Parent Involvement

Parental involvement is a very important part of our school program and philosophy of giving back to the community. Each family is asked to be active stewards of our school, contributing time, talent, and treasure to our school so that we can provide the best possible education and experiences for all our students.

We request that families volunteer 25 hours per year. This averages to about four hours per month and can be completed by any member of your family.  Families who do not complete the full 25 hours will be assessed a $250 service fee, broken down by semester (so partial hours completed will reduce the amount owed).

Please note: All service hours should be logged in FACTS/SIS. See our step-by-step instructions on How to Record Your Time in FACTS.

Ways to Volunteer at OLM (not limited to):

  • Being a grade parent.
  • Driving and chaperoning for class field trips.
  • Assisting with PTO events (set-up, clean-up, or working shifts).
  • Admissions & Concessions at sporting events (a great way for middle school students to contribute!).
  • Supporting Helping Hands of Mercy service projects as a chaperon or helper.
  • Covering lunch and recess for Teacher’s Lunch Out.
  • Helping with occasional classroom parties or projects.
  • Providing contributions of needed items.

In addition, events are planned throughout the year to bring the home and school community together, such as the fall festival, the Christmas pageant, athletics events, and many others. We ask that you get involved!

How to Volunteer?

There are two steps you must complete in order to volunteer at Our Lady of Mercy School:

1. CMG Connect

All volunteers must first complete A Safe Environment Training & Background Check through CMG Connect prior to volunteering. We recommend completing this early in the academic year, as the process may take a few days or weeks.
Note: CMG Connect must be completed once each year.

2. FACTS FORMS

Volunteers must also complete the Volunteer Profile Form and the Volunteer Driver Form on FACTS. If you did not complete these forms when submitting your child’s application, you can still access them by following these steps:

  1. Login into FACTS
  2. From the left menu, Select School
  3. From the sub-menu, select Web Forms.
  4. Choose the Volunteer Profile Form or Volunteer Driver Form, and complete the required information.

When Volunteering or Visiting School

You must sign the visitor log located in the school office and get a “Visitor” sticker. This procedure is in place to support a safe environment for all students.

Join your child(s) at lunch!

Parents are always welcome to join their child for lunch. However, after one visit, we kindly ask families to wait at least two weeks before returning. This helps ensure that all children have the opportunity to socialize with their peers while still enjoying this special experience with their families.
